Zeta Topisomerase IIa Antibody. Zeta’s recombinant rabbit antibody recognizes Topoisomerase II-α (TOP2A), a 170kDa nuclear protein that plays an important role in DNA synthesis and RNA transcription, as well as chromosomal segregation during mitosis. Topoisomerase II-α (TOP2A) is reported to be a sensitive and specific marker of late S-, G2- & M-phases in transformed and developmentally regulated normal cells and has been shown to be over-expressed in many human cancers. Decreased expression of Topoisomerase II-α is the predominant mechanism of resistance to several chemotherapeutic agents.
Topoisomerase IIα (TOP2A) is a specific target of multiple chemotherapy drugs. Increased amplification of the TOP2A gene have been associated with treatment response in breast cancers. Additinally, high rates of HER2 amplification were seen in patients with TOP2A amplification in breast, ovarian, gastroesophageal/oesophageal and pancreatic cancer.
