Zeta’s CMV Antibody. Zeta’s recombinant rabbit antibody recognizes Cytomegalovirus (CMV), an opportunistic pathogen infecting the lungs, kidneys, gut, and other organs in situations where an individual is immunologically immature, such as the fetus and neonate. CMV infection also occurs in immunosuppressed patients, such as transplant patients, patients undergoing chemotherapy, and those with HIV infection. Ten to forty percent of the patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) develop CMV infections. Immunohistochemistry with the CMV antibody can be used to detect CMV infection in formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded tissues. CMV p65 antigen was also detected in the leukocytes of the peripheral blood and BALF during the early phase of CMV disease.
