Zeta PSAP Antibody. Zeta’s rabbit recombinant antibodies recognizes PSAP, a protein of 52kDa identified as prostate specific acid phosphatase. PSAP is a marker for prostate cancer. PSAP is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of orthophosphoric monoester to alcohol and orthophosphate. PSAP is synthesized under androgen regulation and is secreted by the epithelial cells of the prostate gland. PSAP is found in non-neoplastic adult and fetal prostatic glands, primary and metastatic prostatic carcinomas. Zeta’s PSAP antibody shows no staining in granulocytes, osteoclasts, parietal cells of the stomach, liver cells, renal cell or breast carcinomas.
PSAP along with PSA immunohistochemical stains can be valuable in confirming metastatic carcinoma as being of prostatic origin for the evaluation of metastatic adenocarcinoma of unknown primary origin in males.
